Handy Upcycled Storage Containers

Long time no post. The Boyfriend and I have been busy renovating the house, so I haven't had much time for crafting lately.

However, in the course of the organization that comes with renovation, we had to figure out a budget way to organize all the bits and bobs that comes with living with a handyman. So, we used... these!

See, the Boyfriend likes his pink lemonade, and I thought the containers were cool. So my natural packrat tendencies took over, and we had a dozen or so containers sitting around on top of the kitchen cabinets. So today, we finally put them to good use. These containers are special, because they're screw top, and they have a cutting line built in.

See that line at the top? You want to cut there to give it a wider mouth. Or you can skip that and use it the way it is, which would be useful for smaller stuff like beads. But since we're going to be putting nails and screws in these, we wanted the wider mouth. Just in case you can't see it, here's a diagram.

And that's pretty much it. It's super simple. We used blue painter's tape to label ours, but we had it lying around, and we wanted to be able to peel it off and replace it when we used up the screws. You could just use a permanent marker if you wanted.

Disclaimer: I'm not compensated by Country Time Lemonade for this post.

  1. I hoard these as well, along with frosting containers. :) Never thought of cutting that top bit off! Great idea.
